PurOceans has been selected among 323 start-ups by Hummelnest Accelerator
PurOceans has brought its eco-friendly technology to Graz. Alona is directly involved in Hummelnest's accelerating program and she has pitched during the Demo Day.
During the pitch, Alona highlighted that our perfect customers are ports that can save up to 10x using PurOceans Technology compared to existing excavating methods that also completely destroy the seabed. PurOceans has demonstrated the effectiveness of its technology in the port of Riga in 2021 removing more than 10 kg of pure oil in a 3-day test and the team is planning to have a full scale model operating this year and this has made the difference.
These are just some proofs for which PurOceans has been selected among 323 start-ups for Hummelnest’s accelerating program with the collaboration of Transformation Lighthouse, Raiffeisen-Landesbank Steiermark and Unicorn - Startup & Innovation Hub, peaking with the presentation for the Demo Day in Graz on the 29th of June.
The event
Hummelnest Accelerator is a creation of Raiffeisen-Landesbank as a startup accelerator in Graz, Austria. After an attentive evaluation, PurOceans has been selected, among 323 start-ups, to join the programme from March 2023 peaking in a presentation with other 4 start-ups during the Demo Day on the 29th of June 2023.
The programme gave to the team mentoring through specialized leadership and team growth workshops. Another important contribution was networking as PurOceans can now contribute as part of a pool of thrilling and skilled personalities. Through this program, indeed, next months are going to be very intensive as PurOceans will enter the last stage of individualized development and the team itself will grow and new competences added. PurOceans is ready to face a new challenging chapter to dazzle.
Why PurOceans?
PurOceans’ mission has inspired Hummelnest’s team and the prototype has been validated in order to receive investments and further development, focusing on MVP. PurOceans’ mission has an immense impact not only on removing and utilizing pollution in a most eco-friendly and safe way for the environment, not only speeding rehabilitation of waterbodies, but also help to prevent climate change. Our technology helps to remove and utilize the pollution caused by business activities, and rehabilitate the flora & fauna. Due to the core principle of the technology (the method of flotation), hydro fauna is being greatly enriched thanks to the process of water saturation with oxygen and oxidation of nutrients and hydrocarbons. During the process of flotation, the layers of water are mixed, helping the waterbody’s ecosystem to rehabilitate in the fastest possible and natural way. Also, our technology contributes to SDG 13 “Climate actions” by helping water bodies to recover and produce oxygen and to SDG 6 and 14.
In synthesis, PurOceans’s strength is given by its economical and technical characteristics. PurOceans Technology removes 98% of oil/plastic pollution from the beds of waterbodies and cut removal costs by 60% or more, we assist in complying with regulations and sustainable development goals and the Deep Water Rehabilitation System reduces toxic hazards to human health, providing long-term impacts that rehabilitate environments, allowing natural ecosystems to reestablish themselves.
